Cambodia Begins Study of Its Military History

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of National Defense held the first seminar on military history on win-win politics on November 7, 2022. The workshop was chaired by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, representing the Minister of National Defense.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. HUN Manet stated that the first Military History Workshop at the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) level will play an important role in supplementing after collecting a lot of input through the results of the Military History Workshop at the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) level. The regional armies include the 3rd, 4th and 5th military divisions, with the participation of keynote speakers, divisions, brigades, military operations areas, and a number of win-win political operators to further the progress of military history. By being able to respond to both current needs and future directions.

He added: "We all love peace, of course, peace is not easy to get, especially in the context of Cambodia, a country that has suffered from war and conflict in history for more than 500 years. Past studies have shown that ending a war with win-win politics is the "philosophy of peace" with the strong political commitment of Samdech Techo, the founder and guide.

In this sense, the end of the war is not a coincidence, so in the process of ending the war under win-win politics requires highly talented leadership combined with scientific strategy because of the environment and the surrounding situation. Moreover, it can be said that win-win politics in Cambodia has a wide meaning, that is, it covers all areas of society as a whole, because win-win politics has brought complete peace, national unity, territorial unity, a single constitution, a single government. A single armed force, which is a favorable factor to ensure the protection of independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, as well as the development of society in all fields.

According to Hun Manet, the study of military history is a study of the history of defense, war, and armed conflict, by analyzing the victories and defeats of each stage, as well as the rules of the emergence of the armed movement, Army Art and Army Development.

Overall, military history is an essential resource for the development of strategic wisdom for leadership. In this sense, through the historical events that Cambodia has been affected, especially the consequences of the chronic war, until complete peace has been achieved through win-win politics, we can also say that military history in Cambodia is a source of rich lessons and experiences, buddhist resources for building and cultivating wisdom are strategically important to the success of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, both in the present and in the future. Therefore, this workshop is an important contribution to enhance the capacity of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces officers through the understanding of the military history and the successful implementation of the win-win policy of Samdech Techo Prime Minister, which is a wise and valuable Great experience for our soldiers as the next generation.
